Bacon Wrapped Asparagus (Printable Version)

Tender asparagus bundles wrapped in crispy bacon, roasted until golden and smoky. Perfect for appetizers or sides.

# What You'll Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 1 lb fresh asparagus, woody ends trimmed

→ Meats

02 - 8 slices thin-cut bacon

→ Seasonings

03 - 1 tbsp olive oil
04 - 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
05 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1/4 tsp sea salt

# Method:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
02 - Rinse asparagus thoroughly and snap or trim off the tough woody ends from each spear.
03 - Divide the asparagus spears into 8 equal bundles, grouping 4-6 spears per bundle depending on thickness.
04 - Drizzle olive oil over the asparagus bundles and sprinkle evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss gently to coat all surfaces.
05 - Wrap each asparagus bundle with a slice of bacon, starting at one end and spiraling around to the opposite end. Place bundles seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Bake for 18-22 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender-crisp. For extra crispy bacon, switch to broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching closely to prevent burning.
07 - Transfer bundles to a serving platter using tongs. Serve hot while bacon remains crispy.

# Chef's Tips:

01 -
  • The bacon fat bastes the asparagus as it cooks making each spear impossibly tender and flavorful
  • Everything happens on one sheet pan so cleanup is almost nonexistent
  • These look fancy enough for company but come together in under ten minutes of prep
02 -
  • Thick asparagus spears work better than pencil thin ones which can overcook before the bacon gets crispy
  • Overlap the bacon slightly as you wrap to prevent it from shrinking and exposing gaps during cooking
  • If your bacon is not crisping after the initial bake time switch to broiler mode but stay right there watching
03 -
  • Pat the asparagus completely dry before seasoning so the oil and spices actually stick instead of sliding off
  • Arrange the bundles with space between them so hot air can circulate and crisp the bacon from all angles
