Matcha Overnight Oats (Printable Version)

Creamy matcha-infused oats with earthy flavor, ready overnight for quick mornings.

# What You'll Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup rolled oats
02 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
03 - 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
04 - 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
05 - 1 ¼ cups milk (dairy or plant-based)

→ Toppings (optional)

06 - ½ banana, sliced
07 - 1 tablespoon toasted coconut flakes
08 - 1 tablespoon chopped almonds or pistachios
09 - Fresh berries

# Method:

01 - In a medium bowl or jar, whisk together the milk and matcha powder until smooth and no lumps remain.
02 - Add the oats, chia seeds, and honey or maple syrup to the matcha milk mixture. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
03 - Cover and refrigerate overnight, or at least 6 hours, to allow the oats to absorb the liquid and soften completely.
04 - In the morning, stir the oats thoroughly. Add a splash of milk if a looser consistency is desired.
05 - Divide into bowls or jars. Top with banana slices, coconut flakes, nuts, and berries as desired.

# Chef's Tips:

01 -
  • Breakfast is ready before your coffee even brews, making chaotic mornings feel almost peaceful
  • The matcha gives you steady energy without the afternoon crash I used to get from sweet oatmeal
02 -
  • Lumpy matcha is the worst, whisk it into the milk before adding anything else or you'll have bitter green clumps
  • The oats continue softening in the fridge, so if you like some texture don't let it sit longer than 24 hours
03 -
  • Warm the milk slightly before whisking in the matcha, it dissolves so much easier
  • Taste your matcha first, some brands are more bitter than others and you might need slightly more sweetener
